The Adam and Eve Story And What It Means To Be Born Again

To really understand how we all got here, what it really means to be “born again,” and why there is so much death and destruction in the world we live in – you have to go back to the very beginning to the Adam and Eve story as told to us in the Bible.

To truly understand our roots and beginnings as Christians, we have to fully understand exactly what had occurred in this story. I will go ahead and break the story of Adam and Eve down under the following captions.

The Story of Adam And Eve

God Sets The Stage

1.  As Christians, we have to believe in the literal interpretation of the Bible. There are many secular and atheistic teachers and professors who are teaching in our high schools and colleges that man gradually evolved rather than actually being created by our Lord. However, the Bible tells us otherwise.

The account in Genesis tells us very specifically, and without any other possible interpretation, that both man, the heavens, the earth, and all the creatures on the earth were all CREATED by the Lord – that they did not progressively evolve over some period of time. The very first verse in the Bible tells us that God created the heavens and the earth. Here it is:

“In the beginning God CREATED the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)

The Bible then goes on to tell us that God then proceeds to create light, night and day, the seas, the stars, creatures to live in the seas, creatures to live on the dry land, and then finally the man Adam – all in 6 days. Adam was created on the 6th day.

Here is the verse that tells us that the very first man, Adam, was also created by God, and that he did not progressively evolve over any type of period of time:

“And the Lord FORMED MAN of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” (Genesis 2:7)

Then God plants Adam in the Garden of Eden and gives him total dominion over everything in it – including all of the fish, the birds, and every living thing that moved on the earth at that time. After a certain period of time, God then sees that it is not good that Adam continue to remain alone – so He then creates the first woman Eve by causing a deep sleep to fall on Adam and then takes out one of his ribs.

God literally creates the first woman from the rib of Adam. God meant for Eve to be a helper comparable to him and He then tells the both of them to be fruitful and multiply and to fill the earth and subdue it. Here is the verse that specifically tells us that Eve was also created just like Adam was, and that she too was not a product of some type of evolutionary process.

“And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from the man HE MADE INTO A WOMAN, and He brought her to the man.” (Genesis 2:21)

Again, both of these accounts show that both Adam and Eve were created by God and that they did not evolve from any kind of evolutionary process or any kind of primates.

2.  After God brings Eve to Adam to be his helper, Adam makes a very powerful statement that has future implications for all married people. Here is what he says in reference to Eve:

  1. “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh …” (Genesis 2:22)
  2. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” (Genesis 2:24)

Right at the beginning of creation, with the creation of the first man and the first woman, God tells us how powerful and how holy the marriage union is going to be. Bone of my bones, flesh of my flesh – two people becoming one flesh! These words right there tell you why divorce and marital breakups are so painful. It’s like flesh ripping from flesh when two married people try to dissolve the marriage union.

This is why divorce is so painful when one or both of the partners try to break it off. There is a spiritual union that occurs when two people marry for true love.

And when one or both want out of the marriage for whatever reason, the pain can literally be excruciating because of the spiritual union that has taken place within the love and bonds of that marriage.

Then the Bible says that God now puts man in the Garden of Eden to tend and keep it. The stage is now set. God has now given this first man and first woman everything they could possibly need to be happy and fulfilled.

They have both been made in the image and likeness of God. They now have each other as marriage mates. God has given them total dominion over everything on the earth. He has told them that they are free to be fruitful and multiply – which means they are free to start having children within the marriage union.

And then to really top it off, they both have direct contact and fellowship with God Himself, as this account says that God walked in the Garden of Eden where they were now living. They literally had it all!

However, there was just one small catch! – The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil

The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil

1.  After God perfectly sets the above stage for Adam and Eve and literally gives them everything under the sun, He tells them that there is now one thing they cannot do.

He specifically tells them they can eat of every single tree that is in this garden – with the exception of one little tree.

This one tree was called the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”

Think about this. God makes this test they both had to pass for the future implication of all mankind as easy as He possibly could. He tells them that all they have to do is stay off this one tree.

He tells them that they can literally eat from every other tree that is in this garden.

The Bible does not tell us how many other trees were in this garden – but I bet there were thousands of them. All they had to do was to obey God’s one, simple, little command to stay off this one tree – and they would have eventually passed the test – and all of us could have been born into this perfect environment. But they blew it big time – not only for themselves – but also for the rest of mankind that was to follow after them.

In addition to telling them not to eat any fruit that was on this one tree, God then allowed one other thing to occur in this setu

p. He allowed Satan himself to be able to roam in this garden in the form of a serpent – knowing full well that Satan would try and tempt them to disobey His direct command not to eat any fruit off this one forbidden tree.

So God sits back and watches this scenario unfold. Will Adam and Eve listen to and abide by God’s direct command not to eat any fruit off this one tree – or are they going to allow themselves to be duped and played by the devil?

2.  As we all know, they eventually fell for Satan’s lies and deception. Satan first targets Eve, telling her that she will be like God if she eats the fruit off this one forbidden tree. He tells her that she will have God’s knowledge of good and evil if she partakes of it.

After Eve trespasses and eats some of the fruit off this forbidden tree, she then turns to Adam and convinces him to do the same thing. Adam then proceeds to eat some of the same fruit, and once both of them have eaten off this tree – an amazing thing then happens!

Before they had eaten off this forbidden tree, the Bible tells us that they literally were allowed to run naked in this garden. They had no shame in doing this. They were as innocent and pure as little children.

Until they had transgressed by eating off this one forbidden tree, they had no sin in their lives.

When they ate off this forbidden tree, they had committed their first sin against God – and what happened after they did? The Bible tells us that their eyes were “opened” and they “knew” that they were naked.

They then proceeded to sew fig leaves together so they could cover their nakedness.

Why all of a sudden would they want to cover their nakedness when they had been running around totally naked in this garden for who knows how long before this transgression took place?

I believe the main reason was due to the fact that shame, guilt, and condemnation immediately set in the minute they committed their first sin and transgression against God.

The minute this shame, guilt, and condemnation set in as a result of committing their first sin against God – they lost all of their childlike innocence and purity.

And once they lost all of their childlike innocence and purity, they then became self-conscious of their nakedness and then had to make an attempt to try and cover it up.

3.  Why was it so bad that Adam and Eve ate the fruit off of this forbidden tree? It was just fruit. The Bible says that they could tell that the fruit on it was good for food and that it was very pleasant to the eyes.

So what was so bad about eating this fruit besides disobeying a direct command from God not to eat of it? What did this fruit represent?

Besides disobeying a direct command from God the Father, I believe there was another reason that God did not want them eating any fruit off this one tree.

The clue is in what the tree was called – “the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”

The Bible tells us that God wants us to be “simple concerning evil.” In other words, He does not want us crossing over any lines to experiment with, to test out, or to engage in any type of sinful activity – not even one time!

Instead of fruit being on this tree, imagine there was a bag of pot, cocaine, or heroin. God’s original plan and design for all of us was that we not even attempt to experiment, even one time, with anything that is sinful such as some of the above items. The Bible says that the wages of sin is death.

Once you cross over the line even one time to try and smoke pot, shoot up heroin, or snort cocaine – you now have the knowledge of something that is sinful and evil because you have now ingested it – you have now taken it in – you have now officially tried it out. That is why this tree was called the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”

God’s original plan for man was that man not have the “knowledge” of evil by engaging in it! Once you engage or enter into a specific sin – you now have the “knowledge” of it.

That is why death resulted when Adam and Eve ate the fruit off this forbidden tree.

So now Adam and Eve will have to face the full consequences of transgressing against God by eating off of this one forbidden tree.

The Consequences of Adam and Eve’s Sin

As a result of transgressing against the Lord, Adam and Eve lost it all. Here are the specifics of what they lost.

Study these very carefully, as these consequences had implications for the rest of the human race that was to come after them – which includes all Christians who are now living under the new covenant with Jesus!

1. Banishment From the Garden of Eden

The first thing that happens is that God tells the both of them that they will now be banished from this perfect garden.

God also says that there was a second tree in this garden called the tree of life, and had they eaten from this tree, they would have lived forever.

Since they flunked their test with the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they were not permitted to eat from this tree of life.

Here is the verse that will show us that both Adam and Eve were then sent out from this most perfect garden.

“… therefore the Lord sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken.” (Genesis 3:23)

The implication seems to be that had they passed their test with the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they would have eventually been able to eat from the tree of life – and had they done so, they would have lived forever. They would have never known physical death.

This account with their first test then ends with the following verse:

“So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.” (Genesis 3:24)

Cherubim is one of God’s high-ranking angels. Adam and Eve had forever lost their one and only chance to eat from this tree of life and to live forever in this perfect God environment.

2. The Earth Is Now Cursed

In addition to banishing both of them out of this garden, God now pronounces a curse on them, their descendants, and on the earth in general.

God tells Eve that she will still be able to bear children, but that she will now bear children in pain. The implication seems to be that had they passed this test, that Eve could have bore children without any pain.

This part of the curse not only applied to her, but to all future women who would be born after her that would also have children.

God then tells Adam that he will now have to work and sweat for his food. Here is the specific verse where God is making this statement to Adam:

“CURSED is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life … in the sweat of your face you shall eat bread.” (Genesis 3:17-19)

Adam, and everyone to follow, will now have to “toil” and “sweat” in order to be able to put food on their table. This is why the world is set up where everyone has to work in some fashion.

No work – no money. No money – no food.

This curse also explains why many of the bad things keep occurring on this earth. As a result of sinning against God, death now enters into the big picture.

Adam and Eve, and all humans to follow, will now have to undergo aging and eventually the death of our physical bodies. All of our physical bodies will now corrupt and die and return to the ground from which God made Adam.

As a result of our physical bodies now being open and subject to the death process, this now opens up our bodies to all kinds of sicknesses, diseases, illnesses, aging, and corruption. This is exactly why we have suffering, disease, and sickness in our earthly lives – all because of the curse of Adam and Eve.

Our earthly lives now have a mixture of both life and death. Some people live long lives, others do not. Some people get cancer, others do not. Some people become victims of crime, others do not.

Since death is now a part of our earthly lives as a result of this Adamic curse – we never know when something bad may happen to anyone of us at any time. We all know we are going to eventually die, but we have no idea when or how we are going to die.

Life in general now becomes very uncertain, as we never know what is going to happen next – whether it be good or bad. This is why all Christians need to be walking in a full surrender with God the Father, and have the Blood of Jesus pleaded over their bodies, homes, cars, and all of their loved ones.

Here is God’s last statement on this curse that He is now pronouncing on both Adam and Eve and the world in general:

“In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust you shall return.” (Genesis 3:19)

As a result of what happened in their story, we all have to be born into this cursed and fallen world before we can make it into heaven after being saved and born again – no exceptions. In this cursed and fallen world, we also have Satan and all of his demons being allowed to interact with us to a certain degree trying to cause as much trouble and chaos as they possibly can.

We also have bad and evil unsaved people being allowed to a certain degree to cause as much trouble and chaos as they possibly can before they die – hence we are all stuck with wars, murders, robberies, muggings, abductions, scams, cheating, infidelity, etc.

The local news on an everyday basis will tell you how bad things can really get from time to time. Whether we want to realize it or not, we have all been born into a war zone as a result of the curse of Adam and Eve that is still in full operation on this earth.

This is why the Bible tells us that we have to learn how to become good soldiers in Jesus Christ. Life is rough, and it is only through God’s grace, protection, and guidance can we make it through this life in one piece before we finally die and cross over to be with Him for all of eternity.

So Adam and Eve not only blew it for themselves, but they also blew it for the rest of the human race as well. However, it is my own personal opinion, that not just Adam and Eve flunked their test with the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but I feel that the same thing would have happened if God would allowed them to have children and then put them to the same test.

I feel that a good portion of humanity, if not possibly all of us, would have also flunked this same test if presented with the same scenario. This is why the Bible says that all men and women have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God.

If there is one thing that we can all admit to is that we are all flawed sinners. We are not perfect. We all have character flaws and imperfections within our personalities. As a result of the sin nature that we have all born into this world with, we have now all become sinners in the eyes of God.

The Bible tells us that there is none of us that appear truly righteous and sin-free before the eyes of God the Father.

God’s original plan for the human race was that we not sin, and that we would obey all of His direct commandments and instructions. He wanted us to have never tasted the fruit of any kind of sin.

But Adam and Eve set the stage as to how all humans would react to this initial setup. They could not abide by God’s specific commands and instructions, so now God is forced to go to plan B.

And thank God there was a plan B, or else we would have all been lost forever as a result of what happened in this  Adam and Eve story. This will now lead us into the next topic.

What It Means To Be “Born Again”

After God pronounced the above curse on Adam and Eve and casts them out of the Garden of Eden, God then makes a very powerful prophetic statement. Here is what He says direct to the devil:

“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.” (Genesis 3:15)

God the Father, in this statement, was foretelling of Jesus coming to our earth to be crucified for all of our sins. In this crucifixion, Jesus would defeat Satan and any stronghold that he has on people.

This is what God meant when He said that Jesus shall bruise his head.

Satan was defeated once and for all at the cross! However, God also states that Satan would bruise the heel of Jesus, which occurred when He was crucified. Due to the position and weight of the human body when crucified, the heels are bruised, which is exactly what happened to Jesus when He was crucified.

However, Satan had no idea what God the Father was talking about when He made this prophetic statement. If he would have known what the crucifixion was really all about, he would have never allowed it to occur. The Bible tells us that the death and crucifixion of Jesus would remain a mystery to the entire world until after it had been completed.

Here are two very profound verses that will specifically tell us this:

  1. “… according to the revelation of the mystery which was kept secret since the world began but now has been made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures have been made known to all nation …” (Romans 16:25)
  2. “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” (1 Corinthians 2:7)

Now here is where being “born again” comes into the big picture. Study this next verse very, very carefully. This is Jesus making this statement:

“… I say to you, unless one is BORN AGAIN, he cannot see the kingdom of God … unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3,5)

Water means “the Word.” The “S” in the word “Spirit” is with a capital “S.” This means it is talking about the Holy Spirit – not our human spirits.

Bottom line – unless one is born again of the Holy Spirit through receiving the Word of God on what it means to become saved through Jesus Christ – you cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven when you die and cross over.

If you will notice, this verse is using the word “again” after the word “born” – born “again.” If this second birth is not talking about our physical births into this world, then what other second birth is it talking about?

The word “again” is telling us that we are going to have to go through some kind of second birth to be able to make it into heaven.

Jesus tells Nicodemus that He is not talking about a physical birth where we are physically born again to be able to enter into heaven. He is now talking about a new spiritual birth. Jesus tells Nicodemus that what is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

When Adam and Eve first sinned against God the Father by eating off the forbidden tree – they not only lost their right to stay in the Garden of Eden, but they also lost their direct spiritual connection to God the Father.

Why? Because sin separates us from God. God’s initial plan was for Adam and Eve not to sin. Once they did, they lost everything good that God had set up for them.

They were banished from this perfect garden and physical death will now enter into the big picture, which means that their physical bodies would be subject to deterioration, corruption, and eventual physical death.

And then to top it all off, they lost their direct spiritual connection to God Himself. The Bible tells us that God actually walked in this garden, which meant that Adam and Eve could walk and talk with God Himself in this garden. When they were banished, they had forever lost their one and only chance to ever walk with God again in this most perfect environment.

So not only did Adam and Eve open themselves up to physical death as a result of this one transgression, but they have now also suffered a direct spiritual death since they lost their direct spiritual connection to God the Father.

This is why the above Scripture verse on being born again is so important for all Christians to fully understand.

Bottom line – Adam and Eve lost their direct spiritual connection to God the Father after they had eaten the fruit off this forbidden tree – however, all born-again believers get their spiritual connection once more restored back to God the Father once they receive the Holy Spirit to come and live on the inside of their human spirits.

The Bible tells us that it is by the Holy Spirit that we have direct access to both God and Jesus who live in heaven!

If the Holy Spirit is not living on the inside of us – then we are spiritually dead.

We have no lifeline back to God the Father and Jesus Christ.

This is why Jesus is telling us in the above verse that we cannot make it into heaven unless we literally have the Holy Spirit Himself living and dwelling on the inside of us.

Here are some major key verses that will tell us that it is by the Holy Spirit that we have direct access to both God and Jesus in heaven. This first verse is showing us that we now have direct access to God the Father “by” the Holy Spirit.

“For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.” (Ephesians 2:18)

In other words, through accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we now receive the Holy Spirit to come and live in our human spirits.

And once we receive the Holy Spirit to come and live on the inside of our human spirits, we now have direct access back to God the Father who lives in heaven.

If God the Father lives in heaven and we have direct access to Him by the Holy Spirit – then we also have direct access to Jesus in the same way, since Jesus lives in heaven sitting at the right hand of God the Father.

This is why the Bible uses such phrases as praying “in the Spirit,” worshiping God “in the Spirit,” and walking “in the Spirit.” It is by, in, and through the Holy Spirit that direct contact is made with both God and Jesus.

Without the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us, we would have no direct spiritual connection back to God or Jesus. We would still be lost and in the same state as Adam and Eve were in when they were banished from the Garden of Eden.

This is why the born again verse mentioned above specifically states that it is the Holy Spirit Himself that we are born again with. Here is another good verse that tells us that it is by the Holy Spirit that Jesus is able to literally abide in us, even though He is in heaven:

“And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.” (1 John 3:24)

The word “He” is referring to Jesus. If Jesus is dwelling in heaven, but the Bible tells us that He is also living on the inside of us – how can this be? “By and in” the Holy Spirit who lives on the inside of us.

I believe that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are so perfectly one with one another – that if we have the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us – then we also have both God and Jesus living on the inside of us as well, even though both God and Jesus live in heaven.

Here is a verse I believe that tells us that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are perfectly one in their divine spiritual union with one another. Remember, Jesus is called the “Word of God.” Here it is:

“For there are three who bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.” (1 John 5:7)

The above verse in 1 John 3:24 specifically tells us that Jesus abides in us by the Holy Spirit. This next verse tells us that both God and Jesus can come to us and make their homes with us.

“He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him … and We will come to him and make our home with him.” (John 14:21)

Notice that Jesus uses the word “We” – meaning that both He and God the Father will come to us and make Their homes with us – all because we now have the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us.

Here is another good verse that will tell us that God the Father Himself abides in us by the Holy Spirit in the same way that Jesus abides in us by the Holy Spirit:

“No one has seen God at anytime. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.” (1 John 4:12)

The word “Spirit” in the above verse is with a capital “S” – which means it is referring to the Holy Spirit. This verse is thus telling us that God the Father also abides in us because the Holy Spirit is now living on the inside of us. The key word in the above verse is “because.”

To think that we now have the third Person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit, literally living on the inside of us – and it is by the Holy Spirit that we have a direct link and a direct spiritual connection back to both God and Jesus who live in heaven is truly mind-blowing!

This is why you will see me using words such as “tapping in” to the Holy Spirit in many of our articles. Since the Holy Spirit lives on the inside of us – not the outside – contact is made with Him by tapping in on the inside your being, not the outside!

This is why the Bible tells us in Luke 17:21 that the “kingdom of God is within you” – because we now have the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us.

And since God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are so perfectly one with one other – each one of us truly has the kingdom of God literally dwelling on the inside of us since God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are the Kingdom of God Themselves.

Conclusion

To really understand what it means to be saved and born again, each Christian needs to fully understand what had occurred in the  Adam and Eve story.

The story of Adam and Eve, and then the story of Jesus coming down to our earth in the flesh to be crucified for all of our sins in order to bring us back to God Himself, are like two puzzle pieces that perfectly fit side by side with one another.

The Adam and Eve story tells us how everything began and why things are the way they are today – all because we are still living under the curse they had brought upon this earth as a result of their one transgression against the Lord.

The Adam and Eve story then sets the stage for the greatest story that will ever be told.

The coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to our earth in the flesh to save us and deliver us from our sins and our lost condition that arose out of the story of Adam and Eve.

Had God the Father not sent His Son Jesus down to our earth to be crucified for all of our sins and our lost condition – we would all still be living in this lost condition with no chance of ever being able to make it into heaven after we die and cross over.

With Jesus literally being willing to die on a cross in order to get us back to Himself and His Father – we not only get to go to heaven when we die and cross over, but we also get our inside spiritual connection once more fully restored back to both God and Jesus since we all receive the Holy Spirit at the moment of our salvation.

This is something we get immediately. We do not have to wait until we get to heaven before we can receive the Holy Spirit. We receive the Holy Spirit at the exact moment we are saved and born again – and it is by, in, and through the Holy Spirit that we all now have a direct access and a direct spiritual connection back to both God and Jesus.

However, what we do not get is the stoppage of the aging process and the eventual deaths of our physical bodies. The Bible tells us that the last enemy that will be conquered will be death.

1.  The Bible tells us that Eve became the mother of all the living. So if Adam and Eve were the first man and first woman to get the ball rolling in reference to starting the world’s population – how did they do this?

Most Bible scholars are in agreement that the only way this could have occurred is if the sons and daughters that Adam and Eve initially had were allowed to have sexual relations with one another.

There is absolutely no other way that this could have occurred. The gene pool would not have been contaminated at this early stage.

However, as you get further into the Old Testament, God then ends up prohibiting any incestuous relations among any family members.

However, in order to get the ball rolling off this one man and woman, God had to initially allow the sons and daughters of Adam and Eve to have sexual relations with one another in order to get things going.

2.  The Bible then says that Adam lived to a ripe old age of 930 years. However, the Bible does not tell us how long Eve had lived for.

Bottom line – the Adam and Eve story needs to be fully understood by every Christian in order to understand who we really are in Christ and why things are the way they are in the world we now live in. Like to hear your thoughts below.

  1. Why would God, perfect in love, creator of all things, and perfect in knowledge of past, present and future things freely choose to allow his creation to be ruined? Especially as He knows that this will cause a tear in the relationship of the Godhead; Father, Son, and Spirit? Why would he allow sin into the heavenly relms so that Lucifer and 1/3 of the holy angels are defieled and ruined? They are his creations too. If God is the creator of all things then where did sin come from? If all mankind died in Adam and Eve and are now born as fallen creatures how can they be held responsible? If I as a fallen and defieled human can forgive my child and continue to love them despite their sin against me and others, how could a prefect God do less? Why would a God of perfect love create a place of perfect doom and torture so that his own creations could suffer eternally? These are problems…

    1. Because God has only ever wanted a relationship with us. But He does not want us to commune and abide with Him because we feel we have to. He wants us to do it because we want to. That is why He gave us free will. At once the most wonderful and horrible gift ever given to mankind.

  2. Sin is the disobedience of the lord, and he wants us to have a personal relationship with him, not be some sort of robot that just does what is told. He wants it by our own free will, but of course since he is the only person/spirit in the universe that is perfect, everything else could be corrupted. That includes the angels and us as humans. Even through our sins and our imperfect state, he still loves us. He loves us a lot. Would you give up your son for people who you barely have a relationship with or even for your best friend? God makes it so we have a choice, you are either with him or not. In heaven God’s presence is in full effect, while in hell his presence is non-existence hence people in heaven being lively and hell being dead. He is the source of all life. He wants us to come, bu that is our own decision.

  3. Saint Augustine couldn’t do it. But can you explain what kind of fruit Adam and Eve ate in the story? After thousands of years it’s time to think, read, and give the real explanation based only on the facts in the story. No guesses, opinions, or beliefs. We’ve already had way too many of these. Treat the whole thing as a challenge. You can do it! But first, do a quick Internet search: First Scandal.

  4. Explain this to me.

God created a tree called “The tree of knowledge of good and evil”. God created Adam and Eve as pure beings. They do not understand the difference between good and evil, hence the tree’s existence. In order for them to realize that they’d sinned, they’d need to eat from the tree in order to gain the knowledge of evil. They simply did not understand. Satan did not tempt anyone. You cannot tempt purity. Temptation implies knowledge of right and wrong, something Adam and Eve did not have.

This means that God set them up to “fail” by creating the tree in the first place. They could not know what they were doing was wrong. You can’t tell a child a complex algorithm and expect them to understand it. Same idea.

    This whole story is bogus.

  5. Question: How are Humans that lived before Jesus was born and died for our sins to be saved? How are their sins to be forgiven?

  6. God did not “set them up to fail”. His love was/is such that He wanted to create beings that would be able to reciprocate His love. There cannot be love without trust, and in order for that type of relationship to be established, God had to give His creation a choice. His desire was not to simply create robotic-like beings that obey whatever command that they are given and watch them live out their lives. He wanted to create a connection with these beings in which they would be given the choice to love and obey, just as a loving parent does with their children. Comparing right and wrong with good and evil is not a valid argument because Adam and Eve would know that going against the command of their Creator was a wrong choice. A small child knows that the disobedience of a stern warning is wrong, even without the predisposed knowledge of right and wrong.

  7. The tree represents a body and eve was seduced by satan into having intercourse with him which gave birth to his fruit which was Cain whois of the evil one(satan). Abel his twin came from Adam who also had intercourse with Eve; both were twins but had two different fathers. This made two bloodlines Cain whos lineage is from Satan and Adam’s other son Seth(Abel was killed by Cain) whose bloodline was of God. The reason God did not like Cain’s offering to him was because it was man made as opposed to Abels who offered God a sacrifice which God created. Cain knew he was disrespcting God when he made the offering of something he did since it fits with his fathers goal of being like God.

  8. Of course they were pure beings but he allowed them to have free will so they were not created to follow God as robots. They had everything they could ever want int the Garden of Eden and Eve let herself be seduced by Satan because she was vain and wanted to have power like God and live forever. The lie was that she will live forever since it was not true; her sin which was intercourse with satan took away that right. She did not put her trust in God even though he gave her everything she could ever want and most likely would have let her live forever. She chose to beleive Satan and corrupted mankind by having his offspring Cain who helped to corrupt Gods plan and bring his evil seed into the world. Thats when God decided he would send a savior and save mankind “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.” (Genesis 3:15) When he says your seed he is referring to Satans seed and her seed which is God’s seed. He refers to Jesus brusing satans head and satan bruising Jesus heel(crucifixtion). This is how I understand it after doing research on what the story truly means. The people who live to promote war and evil are those who come from Satan seed(Cain) who is at constant war with Gods seed(Seth) trying to corrupt them to bring them to Satans side and get them to be punished in eternal damnation. Jesus sacrifice was to save God’s seed by his death and resurrection.

  9. Question: How are Humans that lived before Jesus was born and died for our sins to be saved? How are their sins to be forgiven?

They will be forgiven on judgement day and anyone after Jesus who is forgiven is in heaven. Jesus said “The first shall be last and the last shall be first?” This means the people who died first before him will be risen up first on judgment day while the rest of us on judgment day who just arrive will be last to be judged.

  10. Hi,

Were Adam and Eve Jewish? Question came up in Bible study. Why did God choose the Jews to be his chosen people?

    Thanks,

    Steve

  11. I just want to give this 2 verses to Matthew regarding his question. I think it will explain to him. Mat 27:52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
Mat 27:53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. 1Pe 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; Jesus went to preach to the people in hades. Act 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. you can see His soul was not left in hell (hades) hades was the prison 1 Pet. 3:19 talks about.

  12. If god is omniscient, I knew that adam and eve are going to end up like that. Why didn’t him create a being with a different personality, who wouldn’t defy his orders?

    *No disrespect meant

  13. He made man with the ability to choose. In life we have choices it’s up to man to make the right one. What glory would there be to God if we were all robotic. He wants us to choose to worship him. That’s the glory!

  14. Hi Mike thank you for the wonderful information on Adam and Eve, I had never read this before in such great depth.
Again thanks for all other articles i am really reading and digesting the information, very informative.

  15. Sorry for the comment but yes it is six literal days. He ends each day with the statement “the evening and the morning were the first day” and so on. Gen1:5,8,13,19,23,31. God doesn’t need to be a genie or a magician he is from everlasting to everlasting and capable of speaking things into existence. Gen 1:3,6,9,11,14,20,24. As for the sabbath, they were commanded in the old law to keep the sabbath. In the New testament we have example in Acts 20:7 to assemble on the first day of the week. Also in 1Cor 16:2 and reference to the Lords Day in Rev 1:10. The old law was done away with and no longer binding after the death of Christ we are now under a New Law , “The Law of Christ”. If we are insistent on keeping a poration of the old law we must keep it all, that means animal sacrifices, burning of incense, observance of feasts, (that includes traveling to Jerusalem yearly) fasting and other binding laws under the Law of Moses.

    1. Read Zechariah 14:16. When Jesus comes back, we will be keeping the Feast of Tabernacles. And yes you will be traveling to Jerusalem. Read all of Chapter 14.

  16. Ok, so my questions is the same as one above, but I don’t think it was ever answered from what I can see. How does the story go on? I mean, did Adam and Eve and their children have to participate in incest to keep creating more life in the world? It doesn’t make sense to me that it was only Adam and Eve and yet there are billions of us now in existence unless we all started out from an incredible amount of incest in which case we would all be related in one way or another if you think about it!

(can u inform me how the story goes on, i.e. how did adam & eve proliferate, reproduce further on?
did a mighty flood of incest develop mankind ?
then how did the races develop into multiple colored people ?
archeology tells us that homo sapiens must have developed some 300-400.000 years before christ, and that earth and universe came up some 3-10 billion years before christ?
    thank u

that was a question unanswered from above.

Now, the same question goes for Noahs arc, I mean I know the overall story about the flood and the animals and Noah’s family that was saved, but then how was the world recreated again if it was just one family again left in the world. Again maybe I am missing some crucial part of the story but from how it has been told it leaves me with the same question as with Adam and Eve and the rest of man kind? I have asked many people these questions and no one has ever been able to answer me with a definitive answer, so if anyone could respond to this I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

    1. Noah and his family were on the ark including his sons and their wives. Noah’s son’s wives had children. And their children had children, and so on.

  17. Deut. 29:29 says the secret things belong to God the things revealed belong to us. What is important is the law of Christ and what we should be doing to please God!

  18. Good day in response to Derf’s comment God only said in Genesis 1:28 God said be fruitful not in Genesis 2. My understanding is that God create man and woman in Genesis 1 and in Genesis 2 He created Adam and Eve. In Genesis 2 God create the garden of Eden and placed man in it. in Genesis 1 this did not happen. enjoy

  19. What about reuniting with loved ones after the physical body dies. Does the spirit get to be with loved ones once again, who have passed away? And if not, then wouldn’t that be hell instead of heaven, especially with reguards to soulmates. Or does that just not matter to the spirit anymore once it gets to heaven, and if that’s the case, then what kind of spirit can just all of a sudden lose it’s love and empathy just as if that never mattered? I really wonder about this stuff sometimes.

    1. Hi Misato, Keep asking questions, God wants you to know the answers. I had tons of questions, He’s answered just about all of them over the past year. We’ll be reunited with our loved ones in Heaven, if they have also made the most important decision in life, which is to pray to Jesus and ask Jesus into their heart when they are alive. Let loved ones know when you accept Jesus into your heart, you want them to be saved also. The amount of ecstatic Love we’ll have in Heaven will be due to being in His continual Presence. We’ll feel His Love tremendously more than we encounter love here, off-the-charts! We’ll enjoy perfect, loving relationships with everyone there. I urge you to give your heart to Jesus if you’ve not already done so, please don’t delay. Then pray daily asking Him to grow your faith. I read a lot of Christian books, especially loved “IMAGINE HEAVEN” by John Burke. Ask Jesus to also give you extra love, joy and peace in your heart. You’ll find a love of reading the Bible, for me this happened later. He’s the Source of All Love, I promise you won’t ever regret making Him #1 in your life. Keep at it step by step, God Bless, Leslie

  20. So-

Why allow Satan access to the garden at all? Did Adam and Eve not have free will when they were first created? Would they have eaten of the tree if Satan had not tempted them? It sure seems like they were set up to fail. It’s like God told them “Don’t eat of this tree” then tells Satan “Go tell them to eat of the tree”

In giving Satan access to the garden he was allowing that to happen. Let me know where I’m wrong.

  21. If Adam and Eve were made from dirt and Adams rib respectively, why are the always depicted with belly buttons?

  22. Adam and eve had two children , Abel and kayel.both were men. Now I am confused how the next generation occured. how..??? Please let me know about it. It may be my fault that I understood things in the wrong way. Waiting for a reply

    1. Adam and Eve did not just have 2 sons. They had three sons Cain, Abel, and Seth. Cain and Abel both died in a fight. God created a woman for Seth.

  23. Hi Jim satan ruled in the garden of Eden when you read about it in Eze 28:12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
Eze 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
Eze 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
Eze 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
Eze 28:16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
    this was Satan.

  24. nimesh other people were made the trees in the next verse are people because no tree can envy someone or something only a human being can envy. Eze 31:9 I have made him fair by the multitude of his branches: so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied him.

  25. hi T the bible say your good works are like filthy rags so it is only belief and grace that is important when you belief in your saviour Jesus/ Messiah then you don’t want to do wrong. that is when it says faith without works are dead. so whenI have faith then I act according to it.

  26. Maybe if Adam and eve had taken the path of the tree of life earth would be as it is they may of just had 1 family and Lived together for ever in edan .

  27. God wanted us not to know whats the difference between Good or Bad, then he shudnt have told them to not to eat fruit form tree of knowledge, he drove the cursoity making them eat it, & sending serpent to make them eat it. out of curosity the ate so if god wanted human kind to be live long life thne he wud have told him not to eat from tree of life, then later stages this wud have come

  28. Do people actually believe this? The bible was written by men, no women involved, the churches were invented by men, and were used, and are still used, to instil fear and superstition in weak men and women. People who are afraid of death need to believe that there is something for them when they die. The truth is that there is nothing when you die. Your life ends, nothing follows, no heaven, hell, limbo purgatory etc, What you have is all you will ever have. The bible is full of stories and the biggest one is that Christ died on the cross, rose again in 3 days and later floated off into heaven. The reality is that he didn’t die on the cross, that he lived for some 45 more years, married and had children. The bible is not the only book written about those times. Christians, don’t be afraid to read, to wonder and above all, to question.

  29. i can only say amazing….!i am knowing to know the history we are the daughters and sons of adam and eve.adam and eve shuld given more and more respect because of them we are here….!

  30. I do believe in Bible, not always literal. If people want to read that as literal that is OK as long as they do not force on other people, so doing will nullify the message of Bible. I find metaphoric and paradoxical meanings of Bible more powerful with deeper understandings.

I have a question to ask all Christians. Why God put one tree which had both good and evil knowledge ? If He really wanted to test whether we would obey Him, he should have planted two separate trees, on for good ( sin less) and one for bad ( sinful). That would have been much easier. You think God of the universe did know we would not sin ? God even created us in his own image!!..He wanted us to act like God !! He also said by eating the fruit we became just like Him. Why all these? God loved us so much. Love is God. He wants us to love our self and our neighbors. That can happen only in full freedom. The story of Genesis is a powerful drama .
Can you imagine what if A and E had not eaten the fruit ? They would have no idea about loving other people. That would have the end of Bible!!

Jesus did not die for our sins He died OF our sins. That makes Jesus the power God in the world.

    LE

  31. Did Adam have a bellybutton? All the paintings show he did. So therefore so did God as he made Adam in his own image. Adam fathered Cain and Able, therefore he had male parts, well one really. Why, if the bible, you know that fairy story, says he was created alone, than as an afterthough along came Eve, who had women’s parts and she gave birth to Cain and Able. So the story goes God made Adam alone, but gave him male parts, then he made Eve and gave her female parts but said not to eat the fruit of one tree (meaning sex). They did have sex, got kicked out and had Cain and Able.

Can you folks really believe any of this, and I have only gotton to Adam, Eve, Cain and Able.

  32. I think that a lot of people are missing the point. The point is that the serpent was a bad angel because the serpent was able to talk and what he wanted most of all was to be like God. Because his words to Eve was this “for God knows when you eat of it yours eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” key words you will be like God. I know many people who try to find a answers for everything that go against God and his vision.I just tell them this, Man will never be able to touch the sun directly without burning or live on the moon. Man will never be able to beathe under water without oxygen and man will never be able to take his possessions when he dies, and that how you know their a God.

  33. I’m not an atheist, I have been baptised and had all the sacraments (except marriage) but right now in class we have been taught that the bible is NOT meant to be taken literally. By a Christian teacher. It is meant to provide us with guidelines and answers, not literal stories. The fact is that science had proven evolution. No disrespect intended, but the only proof of the bible IS the bible, which was written millions after these accounts happened. We have proof of dinosaurs, which were not written about in the bible. There is proof that we are related to apes. There is more proof that Jesus existed than there is Julius Caesar, but no proof whatsoever of people being able to live 390 years or the earth being made in 6 days. I am a Christian, but I believe in evolution. Not all those that preach this are atheists.

  34. I would just like to point out. Adam, Eve, Cain and Seth all had more children. Eve was the only woman there, so they could only have children if…
Think about it guys, the bible isn’t always the most truthful source of information

  35. When God banned Cain from Paradise he gave him a mark so that no one would kill him. This implies: a. that there were other humans outside of Paradise and b. The other humans outside of Paradise have knowledge of what Cain did to his brother Abel. It is not necessary for all of God’s actions to be documented in the Bible. He could have made many more men who he did not put in Paradise The Bible tells us what God wants us to know. It in no way limits his actions.

  36. I agree steve I have studied the creation in many religons, what I belive is that adam is actually satan out of adam was created eve and the serpant who tempted eve was adam and the sacred fruit of forbiden fruit or orginal sin was the act they carried out, god gave adam control of the earth and all living things good deeds and both sin man has the power to do both, my evidence is taken from a book called ocean of love, it is my belive some may disagree but you are intitled to your opinon god would not punish a whole race due to the mistake of two

  37. How did the next generation occur? Do we find this out, when we die? I think the real evil is $$. If you don’t have it, you work, steal or however you can get it. If people had food, water, shelter and the things they need, (not want) maybe the world would be a better place to live. In other countries where there is oil, you have to pay the price. Here we go with $$ again. If you want someting that someone else has, you have to pay the $$. To bad we can’t be happy with what we have and help others. How nice that would be. So instead, it is going to get worse and who knows how it would end. Anyhow, the next time something bad happens, don’t blame GOD, blame Adam and Eve.

  38. gods actions always have a reason and i trust that, but i thought that immortality in not real i thought it was only a myth does it mean its real? and if god loves us so much why did he put satan to persuade adam and eve to eat, ofcourse i trust my god but their are qquestions that i want to know if he loves all of us so much why in the first place put demons and why is it lucifer(devil)went against him why r demons against us why should we believe in something called ghosts why r these things on earth if lots of people love and pray to him everyday why!!!!!!!?????????? can someone answer this

  39. If a ‘god’ created Eve from Adams rib, would they not be exactly alike? eg. blood type, chromosonaly, genecticaly and in every other way. It surely would have produced a clone of Adam? I’m fairly sure you will find another answer to the evolution of man other than the obvious!!

  40. Why did he gave that very fearfull curse to us due to the mistake of adam and eve thats very dangerous curse!! and the worst part it is the god himself give that curse to their own child!!

  41. What curse, you mean the one the Bible says is there, which was written by men to control people? Catholics for hundreds of years were told that the new born baby was in sin already, therefore had to be baptised otherwise it would go to Limbo. AND PEOPLE BELIEVED THAT RUBBISH. I did when I was young and indoctrinated by the Catholic Church teachers and Priests. Luckily I grew up and formed my own opinions. Luckily also I was not molested by any of them.

  42. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” (Genesis 2:24)

So Adam, at that time the only man alive, somehow knew about fathers and mothers? Really? He made that statement, did he write it down so that Genesis could find it later. When my children were young I would read fairy tales to them, as all parents did, we also made up stories. This is one such made up story. Use your logic folks, se it for what it is, a story designed to scare you into being “good”, whatever that means.

  43. Adam didn’t institute that God did its the universal foundation of marriage. Refer to Matther 19:4-6 Christ reminds the Pharisees that God which made them at the beginning made them male and female (and he said) “for this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife and they shall be one flesh.” God is authority for ALL that we do!

  44. If Adam and Eve were created, their sons and daughters had to committ incest to “miltiply” and populate the world. The same story says they had two sons, cain and abel, did they have sex with their own mother in order to multiply? And finally, why use a rib? Why not just snap your fingers? Absurd!

  45. I do not believe the Bible was intended to be taken literally but rather symbolically. This is my interpretation: first, the Garden of Eden represents human nature. Second, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil represents the dichotomy of good and evil inherent in the nature of Mankind. Likewise, good and evil grow from the same tree; in other words, you can’t have one without the other. Further, the serpent whom tempts Eve into eating the apple may represent a worm, and as worms feed on apples causing them to rotten in the process, the fruit of Good and Evil that Adam and Eve had ate of or engaged in was necessarily rotten, or Evil. Moreover, it was the act of engaging in Evil or rotten behavior that caused a shamefulness within Adam and Eve, which they tried to cover or hide from the other and themselves with lies and deception; when questioned by God or the ultimate authority as to what they had done, they deferred responsibility by blaming the other for fear of the repercussions; therefore, by not taking full responsibility for their own actions, they were hiding not only from the other, Eve and God in this case, but they were ultimately covering up their true selves, hiding from themselves. Third, when the Bible talks about being born again, what this refers to is uncovering one’s self by removing the mask, the lies and deception, confronting one’s self, and wholly embracing the Spirit of life becoming one again in the process: to be born again in Man’s true nature, for Man’s values to be reborn. Fourth, it is until Mankind or men and women return to their true nature, and embrace righteous instead of rotten values, that women will bear children in pain of knowing the current nature of mankind. Lastly, and this probably should have come first, the ribcage encloses the heart protecting it, therefore, God’s creation of Eve from the rib of Man symbolizes women being the weak spot of men; additionally, the hearts of men will be vulnerable to everything under the sun without the communion and union of man and woman, or of man and his missing rib. Forgive me, and no pun intended, if this goes against everything you have been taught by the church. Personally, for me, this interpretation makes a lot more sense.

  46. Nice logic you have there Anthony but unfortunately, the Bible is not just a story book or a book of parables but it contains history preserved for thousands of years. Please allow me to give you some facts about the Bible:

    – Fact 01: The Bible contains 66 books recorded by 40 different individuals.
    – Fact 02: The Bible was written over a period of 1600 years.

If you have played the game “pass the message”, try queueing up 10 people and give them a story to be passed to each person and guess what’s the message received by the 10th individual – how has the story changed?

The interesting thing with the Bible is that despite the fact that all of these 40 individuals did not necessarily know each other nor even meet in their lifetime, the Bible has a unified message from cover to cover. The message is totally different from your interpretation. The Bible is not a compilation of ideas of men.

    > Question 01: What could be the explanation for the unity of the Bible? (Read 2 Timothy 3:16)

    – Fact 03: Many Biblical prophecies have already been fulfilled.

    > Question 02: How could people know and talk about what will happen in the future? What’s the probability of one prophecy getting fulfilled? How about many prophecies getting fulfilled? (Read 2 Peter 1:20-21)

    – Fact 04: There are more ancient manuscripts of the Bible discovered than any other ancient document.

First handwritten English translation of the Bible were produced in 1380 based on a Latin text originally translated from the Hebrew Masoretic Text (from about 900AD). Archeological discoveries in 1947 found manuscripts (written about 200BC) approximately 1,000 years older than previous oldest manuscripts which showed accurate transmission of the Bible. “Archeology has confirmed countless passages…” (Archeology and Bible History)

    > Question 03: How could such manuscripts be preserved and texts preserved so accurately over many centuries?

These are just a few facts of the Bible but we wonder how all these facts be a reality for one Book. Unfortunately, many people try to interpret the Bible using logic because they basically do not believe in God – the Author of the Scriptures… but what’s the probability of one fact mentioned here becoming a reality for one Book? How much more for all the facts…? Indeed, there are things that happen in our lives which are not logically and scientifically possible and that we cannot truly explain. It will never hurt just to ask God to show Himself if He really exists… if we truly seek Him, He will reveal Himself.

Forget what the church has taught you but if you read through the whole Bible, the interpretation you gave about Adam, Eve, God, the Holy Spirit and being born again is really out of context. Your own interpretation may make sense to you but its totally wrong. I grew up in church but at one point in my life long time ago, I also have questioned the reality of God… thereafter, many (really many) things beyond human comprehension happened. I’m talking from experience and not from what the church told me because who knows what I will experience… It will NEVER EVER hurt you to ask God to reveal Himself to you. I will encourage you to talk to God! By the way, when you read the verses I have given, ask God to help you understand and perhaps you might want to read the whole chapter to get a better context. God bless you!

  47. Eugene, thanks for taking the time to respond. You should know that I do not own a Bible, I have only ever been to church a handful of times, and my interpretation was merely based upon the information that is provided in the article.

Since it is fact, at least by your standard, that many biblical prophecies have already been fulfilled, I was hoping you could provide me with some information to confirm this claim, and perhaps a bullet-point list of the prophecies that have been fulfilled.

Also, I have heard of the telephone game, or what you referred to as the ‘pass the message’ game, and considering its general relevance, one is forced to question or at least wonder whether or not the Bible’s original message has been distorted somewhere along the way.

  48. According to midrashic literature, Adam’s first wife was not Eve but a woman named Lilith, who was created in the first Genesis account. Only when Lilith rebelled and abandoned Adam did God create Eve. Which explains why there are two type of women on earth.. Those who are women and highly Independent are children of Lilith and women who are depeded on Men are Children of EVE…Lilith was not dependant on Adam she wanted to do things her own way.. She left Adam and God said.. It is not good for a man to be left alone… I shall make him a help meat. All you have to do is look in the bible and see the word Lilith.. Look up the word and you will find the truth.

  49. A basic mistake people make with the biblical text is they want to fit the naration to todays style of writing. The first 3 chapters are in no way a genealogy nor a historical account with our expectations for precision. The text is not giving us a detailed account of creation, its a story of origin. Therefore it’s style is not an detailed story. It tells us of a perfect creation, the fall of this creation, and it hints at God’s plan for our salvation.

    Try to answer these questions
Time span betwen creation and the fall, betwen the fall and the murder of Able
at the time of the fall how many chidren did Adma and Eve have, wath was the population at the story of Cain and Able?

Expecting answers from silence is unreasanable so is pointing at errors from taht same silence.

The general message of the Bible is not scientific, it’s God seaching for siners to save them, at least those who will admit to who they realy are.

Seek God you will find He is already seeking you.

  50. Don’t people know that the book now published as the Bible and revered as God’s words, is simply a creation of man, in fact, many men. It is a collection of short stories, Readers Digest could do it better, and in no way can or should be taken, not just literally, but in any way representing how the earth, its peoples and it many religions and cults, were commenced. As much as God lovers want to believe it, the Earth evolved over millions of years and is still evolving. Man (including women) both create and destroy as they evolve. Millions were killed over the years because of religious dogma. the Bible is only one book that should be read to seek the truth. There is evidence that a man name Jesus lived and was a carpenter. He was born out of wedlock, meaning that Mary and Joseph were not married, hence, in some circles he was a bastard, another man-made name. Mary was not a virgin, she simply wasn’t married so the fiction of Immaculate Conception was created to best fit what those in control of the masses wanted to present her. Is that so hard to accept? In my youth it wasn’t uncommon for girls to claim they got pregnant because they sat on a toilet seat obviously after a man had, really folk, that’s what was said. There is evidence that a man called Jesus was crucified and was buried in a cave. But he didn’t arise from the dead, he simply did not die. Crucifixion alone doesn’t kill people, hanging on the cross for several days will. So, no mystery there, like it or not. There is evidence that Jesus lived and died in his 70s somewhere in what we not called Europe, that he married and had children. Hollywood’s version of the Bible story, and there has been many, is as true as the real version, which is that it is simply not true.

So folk, it nice to go to church and pray and meet nice people, then go out into the real world and “sin” (“Sin” another man-made notion) again, but at least don’t fool yourself about all of this.

  51. I needed this exact explanation for an essay! Thanks! I am only 13, though, but I am strong in my faith. So thank you for this great scripture by scripture explanation!

  52. Carrie please tell me you do not believe the comment in the previous post it was obviously written by someone who is not a follower of Christ but of the world!! 2 Timothy 3:15-17 states that the scriptures are holy and able to make one wise into salvation. They are given by inspiration(by God) profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness. That the man of God (not the world) may be complete throughly furnished (with what one needs to know to be right with God) unto all good works. Do not take ones mans word for what is right the bible says work out your own salvation with fear and trembling ( Philippians 2:12) it is crucial that we know the plan of salvation and the way in which to receive His blessings and Hope of eternal life. The only place to find those answers are in the bible the true and living Word of God!

  53. First of all, the Bible is very clear that Adam and Eve are not the only people on earth. When Cain kills Abel, he begs the Lord not to force him out of the area as “all who see me will kill me”. The Lord then replies he will punish anyone who does try to harm Cain “7 times the punishment” he has bestowed on Cain. Also, early man replicated. Thats why God tells Eve she will now have a long, hard, painful pregnancy. Obviously, if that was the way it always was, then what kind of punishment would it be? Adam lived a life of luxury and his punishment was to farm on bad land. Also, the Garden of Eden was Atlantis. Eden was like the NYC of Atlantis and thats why it is “The Garden of Eden”.

  54. Adam & Eve, God warned them about eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. He made it clear that they will surely die if they eat from it. Satan countered what God said, that they will not surely die. They ate the fruit from this tree. My question is who lied? Satan or God. Did man die or did he not? The bible is very clear about the fact that God cannot lie. I personally believe God, that man died in the Garden of Eden. The man that died in the Garden was the spirit-man who was created in the image of God and not the flesh. The man Jesus came to given eternal life is also that spirit man that died in the Garden of Eden who has since been encased in a body sustained by the life in the soul. This is what makes sense to me. Any other interpretation of this event is suggesting that God lied. My God cannot lie.

  55. Satan absolutely deceived Adam and Eve in the garden. When they disobeyed God they died spiritually (a seperation from God) and physical death was introduced to mankind. So they began the physical process of dying. When sin entered the world death also entered as a punishment to man.(Romans 5:12). Romans 6:23 says the wages of din is death; but the gift of Gid is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Through the resurrection of Christ we have a hope of a resurrection from the grave when He returns. 1Cor 15:21-26.

  56. Quotation below from your story, I wasn’t able to find exact verse in John, would you guide me ?

“No one has seen God at anytime. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.” (1 John 4:12)

  57. First of all why are you saying it as if it a fact when in fact nobody is completely sure and second dust is composed mostly of dead human skin cells and if adam was the first then how did “God” use dust to make him and if god is all powerful couldn’t he have just made them from nothing it sounds more like aliens to dust remains from dead more primitive human species add there own dna and created a more advanced species and later used adam’s rib to create a female to reproduce and used his rib so the female could be created faster than using dust it makes more sense

    1. except God himself, all creatures suffer what is called territorial barriers. man is spirit and could not have operated on earth except being created of things of the earth. so God used dust of the earth. the same way Lucifer now Satan or the devil when was cast down on earth, he could not operate because of territorial barrier that he could not break because he was not created to live on earth so he used the form of the serpent. this principle only explains territorial authority. God does not contradict his nature and principles. thank you. God bless you

  58. Thank you for the Spirit of Truth, you are lead by the Spirit of God ( Holy Spirit) to share the good news of Jesus Christ, our Lord, Savior and King. God wanted to bless mankind to live happy and have a personal relationship with Him from the very beginning, it was man disobedience that brought sin, sickness, hardship, separation and physical death into the world. Yet God loved us so much, while we were yet sinners, he gave us another chance for enteral life through His beloved Son, Jesus Christ. What a Mighty God we serve! Jesus was not like Adam, He was obedient to God. He did not allow him self to be deceived by satan and it’s through the blood of Jesus Christ that we now have the victory. Did God know Adam was going to sin against Him, yes he did. However, he did not make Adam sin, just as he don’t cause us to sin. God gave us all free will. The main focus to me is to learn from Adam, not to be easily deceived by the demonic spirits that’s roaming the air, but put and keep your trust in the Lord and live your life to please God and to follow Jesus examples to be Christ-like. I love Jesus b/c He made the difference for all of us. We may all have difference of opinions but still we can’t change God’s truth, the Word of God. We may not always understand the whole Bible or parts, but God loves us all so much that he gave His only Son to die that we may live again after our physical death, so that we may all have the right to enteral life through Jesus Christ and I personally think this is Awesome and demonstrates the power(spirit) of love that God has shown toward all of us as believers. There is always the demonic spirit of confusion to get us to not trust in God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, satan is the father of lies. All I can is I Love The Lord and I PRAY to God in Jesus Name through His Holy Spirit that you Never Ever, Never allow anything to cause you to lose your faith and trust in our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, our King and Savior; and regardless of others thoughts and opinions always be lead by the Holy Spirit. God’s Word tell us to study to show ourselves approve…. Thank God for this site, it’s such a wonder tool God has put into place to reach all those who desire to know more of God’s Word to mature in Christ and Serve Lord with all soul, spirit, body and surrender their entire life to God the Father and Jesus Christ. May the people or person who put this site together be abundantly blessed. You may it so easy that even a child can understand. Stay Blessed!

  59. The Truth of Mankind :
God Created Adam and gave him two emotions Love and Happiness.
God then created Eve and gave her three emotions Love , Happiness and Ego.
Mixing Ego with Love and Happiness generated all the other human emotions and feelings that we manking experience.
Eve raised against GOD. The pregnant EVE was banished from Eden and sent to Earth, where she and her offsprings will live.
Adam continues to live in Eden because he is immortal.
In order to return to our father Adam in Eden we have to get rid of our Ego. Once Ego is destroyed , he will have only 2 emotions love and happiness.

  60. My guess is that after seeking the Lord and going to church and after reading the word of God. My opinion is that after god created everything and the man and woman were created in his image and likeness after they had sinned it broke gods heart and god was upset but they still were the first of all creation and all of them that are mentioned in the old testament were of eve the mother of all the living and everything was next to come. So in Matthew there was John the Baptist Jesus Christ the mentioned disciples and the blessed sayings and teachings of God. So I day we all are of Adam and eve and we have come a long way into the year of our Lord 2016. The bible state’s that there is a day when there will be no more curses or curse. Our father in heaven hallowed be your name your kingdom come your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread forgive us our debts as we have forgiven our debtors and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. In Jesus Christs name we pray amen.

    1. I see the limits of infant baptism and confirmation. Baptism by immersion is the real baptism based on Romans 6:3,4.

I was a nominal Christian from birth. It was only much later in life as an adult did I become born again and take water baptism(Immersion).

I thank God for saving me and I now do speak in tongues, too. Praise the Lord!

  61. The serpent in the garden was lucifer. (the tree of good and evil). Eve didn’t eat any fruit, she was beguiled by him and they had sex. She had twins, Cain and Able. Cain was lucifers (he was of his father, the first murderer) and Able was Adams. Later she bore Seth who would start the line to Jesus. Do you really think all this worlds evil is because she took a bite of fruit? The garden story is metaphorical. The line of Cain is of the devil.
God is spirit…there is no Trinity…God the Father and Jesus the Christ, period. Why do you think Paul only mentions 2 persons when explaining the Godhead? The Trinity doctrine comes from the Councils of the Roman Catholics, not the bible.
One cannot be born again until they are raised from the grave. That’s when they are resurrected in spirit form.
Heaven is not the promise of the saved, eternal life in the Kingdom, right here on Earth is.

    1. I could see this because why would God say what he said to satan about putting enmity between his seed and her seed.

    2. The point being, you don’t believe the Bible. Your own intellect chooses to come up with your own ideas of what happened in the Garden. God tells us ” lean not on your “own”
understanding, acknowledge God in all your ways and He shall direct your path. The Bible also tells us the “Wise” will be confounded. You may want to reconsider and believe the Bible is true. The scales will come off your eyes when you truly ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins, that you believe He died for you, and rose again the the third day. Invite Him into your life and you will have a RADICAL life change.

  62. For eternal life you better believe. If Christians are wrong we have nothing to lose. But if unbelievers are wrong you lose everything!!! Think about it.

  63. Judging by all the comments interpretation is still a main issue of division. Believe in Christ as Savior as God s gift of grace and salvation and you will on the chosen path.

  64. from my research and revelation received the following had to happen:

When satan sinned and too a 3rd of the angels with him GOD could merely have blotted them out by just speaking and it whould of been like they never existed but Father God is completely holy therefore sin has no place. And GOD is not a tyrant hece he gave us free will.

we are currently living in the 2nd earth period the 1st period was when we all had spiritual bodies (spiritual beings) but because of satan’s sin God destroyed the 1st age and recreated the earth theres a difference between Gen 1 and Gen 2.

so when god recreated earth he put our spirits in a fleshly body and by what you did in the 1st age meaning did you choose God or did you rebel with satan will determine what happens in this age.

also God had to put all of creation through this 2nd fallen sunfull age ( nature, animals, heavenly angelic hosts, etc so never again after the judgement day will this happen again.

  65. Hi, I don’t see where God said Adam & Eve were cursed. I see that he said the earth was cursed because of them. It reads to me like Satan and the earth was cursed, but man was punished with hard work, labor, etc.

Are you saying that the punishment is a curse or that man is cursed because he came from the earth which is now cursed?

    1. The ground (the earth) is cursed (Genesis 3:17) because Adam had disobeyed God, and with hardships and hard times (v.18). Adam and Eve were basically punished when God banished them from the Garden of Eden.

  66. 1.God’s power is absolute
    2.Creationism is true
3.As is evolution, as it may be observed by us. Evolution is just a term for something that is observable, God created everything, therefore he created evolution. Although God has the power to make everything instantly, God also has the power to create evolution. By saying evolution is not real, you are defying God, you must at least accept it as a possibility, and science has enough evidence to back up the existence of God’s creation, evolution.

  67. I’m a Christian and a Believer and this was an amazing story. I absolutely love this story. My dad is a Youth Pastor and this is my favorite story

  68. Hi, Thank you for explaining the story of adam & eve. I’ve gone to church much of my 58 yr life & in 3 different religions/denominations & 15 different churches, i had never been told the story in full or had it explained. But i agree that it is true & that god indeed has a plan. I have been awakened to this playing out in my life as i type this. I will put it in simple, country girl terms terms. I take the “born again” thing as if we are, then its like being given a chance or even a 2nd chance to live back with god again when he calls us. Again, thank you
